The Third Line, Doha
Launch of the Doha Series: Golnaz Fathi: Doha Series No. 1, The Third Line Doha, 4 March - 3 May, 2009
A unique initiative launched by The Third Line, the Doha Series shall see four select artists travel to Doha, Qatar to make a body of work in response to the experience of being in Doha. Along with catalogues for each exhibition, The Third Line will publish a book at the end of the year documenting the series.
Golnaz Fathi, the first artist of the Doha Series, is classically trained as a calligrapher, though her paintings seem to break with traditional rules. In her most recent series of works controlled semi-abstractions draw inspiration from the form of letters to form a non language that defies easy categorization.
