Time of Humanity, An exhibition by Darwin Guevarra, Tashkeel, 7th May - 11th June 2009
DARWIN GUEVARRA presents recent works by the young Philippino artist, Darwin Guevarra. Guevarra, who has been resident in Dubai since 2004, has already enjoyed considerable success in the local art scene, winning second prize in the 2006 Red Bull competition and first prize in the 2008 HH Sheikha Manal New Signature Young Artists Award, but this exhibition marks the first time that he will have the opportunity to show his work in a diverse range of media.
Guevarra first gained notice for his extraordinary mixed media works, in which he incorporates discarded materials into the construction of complex and thought-provoking compositions. However, through this exhibition he demonstrates his ability not only to express himself through his collages of painting and mixed media, but also with equal dexterity in both water colors and photography.
