Jyoti Dhar
ART WRITER AND CURATOR
Jyoti Dhar is an independent art writer and curator based in Dubai. She is currently the founder and editor of ChinarTree.com, the UAE’s first website focused on Indian and Middle-Eastern art critique.
She also regularly contributes to international publications such as Modern Painters, Contemporary Practices, Flash Art and Asian Art News.
In December 2005 Dhar launched Bagash Art Gallery, a contemporary space focusing on Indian and South-East Asian art in Dubai. After organizing and curating several seminars and exhibitions at Bagash, she went on to diversify the gallery’s portfolio into Middle-Eastern Art.
Having consulted for a variety of Emirati art institutions, such as Dubai Cultural Council and The Flying House, she was recently appointed curator for one of Dubai’s largest corporate art collections.
Over the course of five years Dhar has gained a broad insight into the world of Asian, Middle-Eastern and Emirati art whilst also becoming familiar with art organisations in the region.
