Elementa Gallery

“Re-Source”, Group show by young contemporary Emirati Artists, Curated by Mohammed Kazem, 31st January – 5th March 2009

For our next exhibition called “Re-Source”, the gallery has engaged a heterogeneous group of young Emirati contemporary artists, some of whom are still in university, to use our premises as a project space, giving them a chance to experiment their ideas within a professional environment.

The title of this exhibition refers to two different concepts: first of all the one of “source”, of origin, which is identifiable with the very idea of youth. Young artists are undeniably the flowing origin of tomorrow’s art scene, and they need to be encouraged in their path towards building their own artistic career. At the same time, the prefix “re-” introduces the perception of repetition, repetition of an experience that is the creative one itself.
