‘TODAY’S WOMAN’ an exhibition of manipulated photography as well as mixed-media and collages on canvas by RAMIN HAERIZADEH, 14th December 2008 - 21st January 2009.
The Tehran-based artist returns to Dubai, 15 months after his successful debut at B21. This is Ramin Haerizadeh at his most humoristic and histrionic, with a patriotism shining through each sophisticated composition.
In each of the three series presented – Theater Group, Men of Allah and Today’s Woman, clear elements of his cultural heritage emerge as the foundation for his strong graphic sensibility, combining his signature style of photo manipulation and his penchant for performance. ‘Today’s Woman’, a new body of work in a new medium for the artist (collage), is reassuringly faithful to Haerizadeh satiric yet sharp criticism of the political and social situation in Iran today.
