Nightskin, Chittrovanu Majumdar’s recent installations, 1×1 Contemporary, Al Quoz, 19th March to 18th April, 2009
Chittrovanu Majumdar’s works are often texts in disguise. In the wake of ‘new theory’ (Roland Barthes and Jacques Derrida etc.), he switches relations between image and text in his work.
His recent works are born as much out of his past literary/ conceptual engagements with cryptic suggestions that cultures offer, as the tendentious avant garde gestural current that his proclivity took him to. The installation pieces comprise of carts with blinds and digital works encased in cabinets, as well as cinematic/ video projections.
